Parents in Kashmir have regrettably reduced their aspirations to certain variables and throughout ages want to test child against them. We can’t blame parents for it. It is the outcome of a capitalist society.

A few days back Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) announced results and most of the students who had written their examinations emerged successful with flying colours. They got distinctions – even many more got 500 out of 500. Literally speaking, it needs burning of midnight oil to score 470 or above. Verily, it is not everyone’s cup of tea, all it needs dedication, hard work and consistency.

Middle-Class Mess
I write these words with a heavy heart and many entangled emotions, desolated, and disgusted with my existence. Yes, I belong to a class of people whose youth live with untrammelled complexes and insecurities. It is not my singular apathy, I perhaps mouthpiece many of those whom you see cheerful yet dejected; sociable yet alone; relentless yet guilt-ridden.
Sameera Fazili with Joe Biden, the new US President
The crisis-ridden White House will have two Kashmir women when Joe Biden will take over, next week. After Kashmir born Ayesha Shah, now it is Sameera Fazili who will be Joe Biden’s Deputy Director of National Economic Council. Ms Fazili, a mother of three, will be focusing on manufacturing, innovation and domestic competition. She goes to the White House from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta where she was Director of engagement for the community and economic development. Prior to joining the Atlanta Fed, she had served as a senior policy adviser at the White House’s National Economic Council where she covered retirement, consumer finance, and community and economic development.
